Move4Girls

Our Mission

Our mission is to inspire and motivate, to Move and make a positive change in the life of others.
With Move4Girls we let fashion-models be role-models and give them a platform to talk about development projects they support and help them spread the word. By sharing their stories we want motivate and inspire their following to follow their example and support those projects.

We specifically focus on projects investing in girls, since we believe girls are the motor of change in this world. Educate girls so they can achieve their potential and be positive change-makers in their families and communities. A girls education is about more than just the individual. It is about the future of her family and her community.

Wendy was born and raised in the Netherlands. She started modeling in 1998 after winning The Elite Model look of the Year and has travelled and worked full-time as a model ever since. After passing her final exams, she moved to Amsterdam, soon followed by Milan, Paris, London and New York. She has featured the covers and pages of magazines like Cosmopolitan (France, NL), Elle (NL), Marie Claire (France), Vogue Esposa (Spain), Arena, GQ and Maxim. Did campaigns for lingerie brands like: Lejaby, Marie Jo, Calzedonia, La Senza and Wolford. Advertisements for Abercrombie and Fitch, Burberry, Rocco Barocco Jeans, Ripley Jeans, Inwear, Tommy Hilfiger, Nivea, H&M, Ti Sento Milano and Rituals Pure Beauty Cosmetics. She has worked with photographers like Bruce Weber, Antoine Verglas, Carlos Alsina, Andre Rau, Michael Dweck and Gavin O Neill.

She served as a Member of the jury of the international Elite Model Look numerous times, hosted the national elite model look a few times and starred in  Dutch TV show Fashionscene TV.

Wendy is partner in her management VDM Model Management Amsterdam and helps them with strategy and development of new talent.

She has been ambassador of the campaign “Strong Women” for Dutch Development organization ICCO and travelled with them to Nepal to visit their local projects.

With NGO PLAN Wendy travelled to Vietnam in march 2015 for their campaign 'Cycle4Girls' and biked 250 miles in 4 days. The campaign raised €220.000 all benefiting 'GirlsFirst' allowing 220 girls to go to school for the coming 3 years.

I am the luckiest girl in the world. I have been very fortunate to see and travel the world in my work as a model. I’ve lived in the world’s most vibrant cities. I feel even more fortunate on all the choices I get to make in my life. Small choices, what am I going to eat tonight, but also choices on education, on how and where I want to live my life and who I want to spend it with. One of my travels was very eye opening. I got to spend a few days with young girls working in the ‘entertainment industry’ in Nepal. Some girls had worked as house slaves since they were as young as five years old. We visited local communities and support projects like safe houses and schools, spoke to lawyers standing up for these girls and doctors and volunteers risking their own lives trying to help these girls. I got to see that how with a little bit of help from our side we were able to make a positive and significant impact in their lives. With this platform I want to contribute in making a positive impact for those girls that have not had the opportunities and circumstances I and so many of us have gotten. Every girl deserves a chance. Getting on my bike for girls in Vietnam was beyond exciting and rewarding and I hope to motivate others to MOVE4GIRLS.

Sofie was born in a small town in Holland. When she was 14 years old  she won the Elite model look of the year in Shanghai. After she finished high school she has lived in Milan, Paris and New York. Working for magazines like Elle, Marie Claire, Flair, Glamour, Madame Figaro, and Jan. Shooting campaigns for Ports 1961, Zapa, Schwarzkopf and Anecdote. And walking the catwalks for Supertrash, Hunkemöller and Jan Taminiau. She now lives in Amsterdam where she combines modelling with a study in psychology.

As a small girl, me and my brother had a piekenpijp, it was like a piggy bank, everytime I had a guilder (the local currency back then) i'd put it in the piekenpijp. And when it was finally full my parents told me we could donate it to something of our own choice. My brother donated it to Ajax, a dutch soccer club, and I wanted to give it to the poor people in Africa. I must have been around the age of 6. This is my first memory of trying to make the world as nice for everyone as it is for me. When I first heard about Plan and what their vision was I was sold. Firstly as a girl you know the problems you face yourself even in western countries, imagine how it is in other countries where girls aren't so fortunate as here. So to be able to help other girls as a girl is amazing, as girls we got to stick together! Secondly what they do doesn't just affect one girl but her whole community. Making it a better place for everyone. Thirdly because we're going to make this amazing journey with 30 other amazing women I will also be able to tell and show you afterwards what Plan means for the girls in Vietnam.

Jeroen van de mast is director of VDM Model Management, a Dutch model agency which is boutique orientated in the international high fashion industry. VDM Models guides new models and their parents in developing an international modeling career.

Jeroen runs for a better life.
Exactly, you have seen it perfectly well; I'm going to run!
I'm not going to run for a better life myself though, but for Ethiopian girls who have a much tougher life in comparison to the women in first world countries.
As the owner of VDM Models I have worked for many years with girls, and transformed them to hard working and independent women. With tons of self discipline they work incredibly hard to achieve the top, in which we - VDM Models - fully guide them. Our models are awaiting a prosperous life with more chances then the average girl in Ethiopia.

For me this feels wrong and distorted. Here, models are in the position to turn down amazing jobs due to various reasons. But would you travel thousands of kilometres southwards, girls are being  circumcised, married off or are becoming mums way too young. This is why I'm going to travel together with Plan International (an international childs rights organization) to Ethiopia to see which projects they have set up in order to help these girls. Part of this trip is a 10k run with locals at the height of 2500 kilometres; it's called the Great Ethiopian run. My goal is to create awareness and commitment in order to help these beautiful girls.

Would you help me to give these girls a better life full of opportunities? Then support me and sponsor the run!

Fahiya was born in 1996 in Leeuwarden, The Netherlands. Her parents moved to Holland in 1988 from Somalia. Farhiya is currently based between Holland and NYC, where she is establishing herself as a fulltime model after finishing her highschool.

She has worked for Scotch & Soda, Clinique, Glamour, Vogue and Elle.

I am very aware how lucky we are to live in the western world.

For my final school project I studied the situation for education of children in Pakistan and Afghanistan with Malala as an inspiration. In my research I discovered and was shocked how few girls get to attaend school, for a variety of reasons, but mainly cultural habits that in my opinion are very outdated. I think it’s tremendously important to explain and educate people on the importance of young girls and women attending school. If you educate a girl you educate the future generation, they will be moms one day having to educatie their children. I am looking forward to contribute whereever I can to make a positive impact in the lifes of others.
